Description: You will see a Native-American tipi, a telegraph office, an 1840”s
pioneer campsite, trapper, Civil War re-enactors and 1870’s chuckwagon
where costumed volunteers will be demonstrating pioneer life skills such
as spinning, weaving, outdoor cooking. You can meet historical figures
like Sam Houston, Molly Goodnight and Susanna Dickenson. Docents will be
available for tours of the park structures. Many free make-and-take
activities will be available for kids.
Scout opportunities:
Brownie and Junior Girl Scouts as well as Cub Scouts will be able to
complete badge work. Specific badges TBA at a later time. Older girls
will be able to work on IP’s with advance arrangements. Volunteer
(leadership and service hours) opportunities are available for older
girls.
Registration information: Scouts who pre-register by April 1st will receive a FREE event patch
or Hometown History Patch sponsored by The History Channel (activity
requirements for HH Patch) as long as supply lasts. Event patches will
be on sale for $3 each for those not pre-registered. You may register as
an individual or as a troop. You may register as an individual or as a
troop. NOTE: this is a public event. Pre-registration is not required
but is highly recommended.
